I do have a suggestion, maybe more a "feel the waters" thing. What if we have a discussion forum on speakers. This would not be a basing forum but a civilized discussion on speakers that we had. What did you learn or not learn!

I think that we have some incredible speakers lined up this year and we already experienced some of them. The problem with having such a line up of great speakers means that when there is a "good" speaker they would seem mediocre comparing to what we experience with the great speakers. The key for me is to listen to all of them and learn what they have done. One can always learn.

Thanks
Roelf

Forum: PSC Forum

Hello fellow club members.

Earlier today I asked Dan Jeter to tell me the steps he used to enhance a photograph. Rather than typing and sending the instructions via e-mail, Dan suggested he show me how he did it via Skype. So, at 7:30 Dan Skyped me and we spent what I considered a very beneficial hour of instruction. It was very helpful for me to be able to actually watch as he performed the steps and at the same time allow me to talk, take notes and ask questions.

For those who aren't familiar with Skype, it is a free download which allows you to talk with others and, if desired, be able to view the other person via a webcam, which is necessary to have. Webcams aren't that expensive and can be purchased most anywhere software is sold. On Skype, you can perform

Voice and video calls to anyone else on Skype
Conference calls with three or more people
Instant messaging, file transfer and screen sharing

How great is that? This caused us to wonder if any of you may have an interest in setting up a small Photoshop group to meet via Skype on pre-determined dates/times for the purpose of showing new techniques, asking questions, or simply just to discuss ways in which we could add another strong arm to the club. I think sometimes people feel uncomfortable standing in front of a group to present their ideas but would be more comfortable and willing to participate if done via Skype in the privacy of their own homes.

Being totally selfish, it would keep me active and connected with the members since I live most of the time in Florida and can't attend the meetings, field trips, etc.

Check out free Skype at http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/home and let's open this for discussion. Any interest?

Forum: PSC Forum

I like the attached photo; however, it needs some enhancement. I would like it better if the boats were not so dark.
